Come and join us for an amazing 3 days of nature immersion, human connection, outdoor learning, new skills, and loads of fun with like-minded people!

HAERE MAI – WELCOME

Nature Nurture Weekend Wānanga is a weekend of nature immersion giving you the opportunity to Nurture, Restore and Re-connect.
In Nature, With Nature and Through Nature.

Are you wanting to increase your mātauranga taiao (nature knowledge) and reflect on your education practice, while developing a deeper connection to nature?

Do you love the benefits nature provides to both you and the tamariki you work with?

Then come and join us for this hands-on inspiring 3-day, 2-night nature-based wānanga, that will have you asking why I haven’t given myself this time before!

You will come away with a deeper appreciation and connection with te taiao, strategies to support child and adult mental health through nature, practical skills to support nature-based practice for ākonga up to 10 years old, and ideas for your kete to inspire tamariki to learn naturally.

Having explored your natural creativity, you will feel nourished and nurtured through our time together in te taiao.

Our wānanga is an opportunity to be present in nature while gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, your practice and what nature education means for Aotearoa.

You should come if…

You work with children either directly or indirectly. This wānanga is designed to grow your knowledge and confidence to use nature as a teacher.

You may be an ECE or primary school teacher, a park ranger or maybe an enthusiastic parent. It doesn’t matter what your background is. If you are passionate about using nature play with children, then you will benefit from the Nature Nurture Weekend Wānanga!

Aimed at teachers, educators and passionate parents of 0-10 years old

We are happy to come up with a payment plan to help you to come along. In the past we have done 3 payments over 3 months. Email us so we can help you out.

How long is it? What time does it start and finish?

Attendees will arrive from between 2-3.15pm on Friday 28th April for a 4pm Mihi / welcome. We will aim to leave about 2pm on Sunday. If you are flying into Christchurch for the retreat this will mean you can get to the airport by 3pm on Sunday.

Will there be any transport from Christchurch?

This is possible depending on the interest. In the registration form, there is a question about transport from Christchurch. Alternatively, we will help to coordinate carpooling, so if you are coming from out of town, we will make sure you can get from Christchurch to the retreat.

What are the sleeping arrangements? Do I have to share a room?

We have twin share rooms available. All the rooms are basic bunk huts and we will have two people per hut so no one will need to sleep on the top bunk. Alternatively, you can bring your own tent to sleep in. The venue charge per person whether you sleep in the hut or a tent, so there is no discount if you bring your tent.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you cancel at least 60 days in advance, there is an 85% refund. If you cancel at least 30 days in advance, there is a 60% refund. If you cancel at least 2 weeks in advance there is a 30% refund. Any cancellations received in the 2 weeks prior won’t receive a refund but someone else can attend in your place at no extra cost.

Do I need to bring a laptop?

We encourage you to be screen-free during the weekend as much as possible. We will be outside for many aspects of the weekend so a laptop isn’t practical. You will receive a guidebook to use for the weekend where you can write anything you need too.
